As I grew up in the Netherlands, in a very privileged family with loving parents and brothers, I experienced little inequality during my childhood and early-adult life. Of course there are always the little things, my father not wanting me to bike in the dark whereas my brothers were allowed to, but never anything substantial that I feel harmed me in any way. I am very fortunate to not have experienced great inequality as a 21 year old female. But then I realize, just saying that sentence shows a deeper... going on. Because the simple fact that a female should feel fortunate because she has not experienced any inequality (yet) already tells us that there is something going wrong in this world we live in.
