Woto FAQ

Can I use my own domain name for Woto pages?

Yes. if you prefer not to use the Woto domain e.g. woto.com/your-page-name, then you can buy a domain through Woto or use an existing domain that you own.

If you have already purchased a domain name, you can follow the instructions below to use that domain to host your Woto pages. If you would like to get a new domain name and get it automatically set-up to be used with Woto, please follow the Buy a Domain guide instead.

Step 1

On your Page List, click on the 'CREATE A NEW PAGE' button.

The following window will open.

Step 2

Click on "Change It" button and then select the "I would like to use a different domain name" option.

Step 3

Next, type your domain name, such as yourexistingname.com, and click on the 'CHECK DOMAIN' button.
Since you have already registered the domain, you will see a message similar to the following:

Step 4

Click on the "Do you own this domain?" link.  You will be asked to verify that you are the owner of this domain and to do so, you will be presented with two options:

If the email address you have used to register to Woto is the same as the email address you have used when purchasing the domain name, this step will be skipped. Otherwise, please follow the instructions in the window.

Step 5

The next and final step is to setup your DNS server to point your domain to Woto.
You will be given an IP address as shown below:

Now you need to get that IP ( in the example above) and update your DNS record accordingly. If you are not sure how to setup your DNS, please follow our Setup DNS guide.

Using your domain

Next time you create a page and click on "Change It" button, you will see your domain as an available option.

Click that and you will be given a random page name under your domain.

If you leave the randomly given name or enter a new page name, it will be accessible under your domain only, e.g. http://yourdesiredname.com/yourpagename

You can also leave this field empty, in this case your new page will be created at the root of your domain. In other words people visiting http://yourdesiredname.com/ will see that page.

Once you're done click "OK", select the page template you wish to use, and then click "Create My Page".

Note that you can still create pages under http://woto.com/ or add/buy more domains. There isn't a limit on the number of domains you can associate with your account.
